Gender-based violence (GBV) remains one of the most pervasive human rights violations worldwide, affecting 1 in 3 women in their lifetime. In Kenya, despite progress in legislation and awareness, GBV continues to devastate lives and communities. It takes many forms, including physical, emotional, sexual, and economic abuse, often rooted in deeply ingrained cultural norms, gender inequality, and systemic barriers. Poverty, lack of education, and weak legal enforcement further exacerbate the problem, leaving many women and girls vulnerable.
At Women for Justice & Change, we believe that ending GBV requires collective action, education, and empowerment. We work to address its root causes through awareness campaigns that challenge harmful stereotypes and promote gender equality. Survivors of GBV need access to counseling, legal aid, and safe spaces where they can heal and rebuild their lives. We provide these essential services while advocating for stronger laws and policies to hold perpetrators accountable.
But ending GBV is not just the responsibility of organizations—it’s a collective effort. Everyone has a role to play, whether it’s volunteering, donating, or simply spreading awareness. By standing together, we can create a world where women and girls live free from fear and violence. Join us in breaking the silence and building a future of equality and justice.
